VertiKKA - Multifunctional facade greening modules for the cities of the future
VertiKKA means the use or conversion of building facades. Low-maintenance, self-regulating green modules with integrated photovoltaic elements are designed to protect facades and make cities more liveable and resistant to extreme weather conditions.
With this approach, Björnsen Beratende Ingenieure GmbH together with Stadtentwässerungsbetriebe Köln and other partners successfully applied for research funds at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Over the next three years, a multifunctional facade module will be developed that insulates, cools, stores or evaporates water flows and at the same time produces energy. All this will be combined with intelligent storage technology, control and modelling.
