Business initiation trip to Canada
The Canadian Chamber of Foreign Trade (AHK Canada) is organizing a business initiation trip to Canada from November 4 - 8, 2024, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) - and is specifically targeting German companies and eligible organizations from the hydrogen and wind energy sector that offer training and further education services (e.g. workshops, seminars, technical training, software solutions, applications, consulting services for cooperation with business and educational institutions, etc.).
Germany and Canada entered into a strategic hydrogen alliance in summer 2022 and also support joint economic efforts and partnerships in the field of renewable energies. In Germany, important steps were taken this week for the hydrogen market ramp-up and the associated wind industry, and the situation is similar in Canada: a major investment package was passed by Parliament just a few weeks ago, with further measures to follow in the fall.
The provinces of Ontario and Nova Scotia, which were visited during the business initiation trip, are expected to have a high demand for education and training services in the field of wind energy and hydrogen, as well as renewable energies in general. Both provinces have published their own hydrogen strategies (here and here), have ongoing tenders for wind energy projects, and the recruitment of skilled workers as well as education and training are a strong focus for the relevant stakeholders - including the large hydrogen export projects.
The aim of the trip is to learn more about the Canadian market and to establish new (business) partnerships with Canadian companies and relevant players from the energy and training sectors.
As part of the program, participants will also take part in a German-Canadian conference on the topic, where you can inform about your services and exchange ideas with Canadian players - and of course a core element of the trip is the organization of individual B2B meetings!
On the AHK Canada website and in the appendix you will find further details, including an overview of the strong partner network in Canada, which we have put together for the program and which actively supports the implementation (including: the German and Canadian Hydrogen Associations, the German Embassy in Ottawa, the Canadian EE Association, various CCIs, major industry and energy players such as Siemens Energy and Northland Power, provincial economic development agencies and educational institutions, and others).
The trip is also supported and accompanied on site by the Federal Association for Vocational Education and Training and IMOVE, and some other partners are considering joining the trip or are heavily involved in the program in Canada.
AHK Canada is working together with enviacon in Germany to put together the business delegation. You can also register directly for the trip via their website.
